I’m Sonie Thakkar, a trained voiceover artiste, podcaster and English Language coach. I’ve been doing all this since 1995. I have also worked with All India Radio FM and have recorded a variety of audio content. I also write and narrate my own audio stories. Clients describe me as a reliable, consistent and excellent communicator. As a lover of the spoken word I updated my voice over training with Darrpan Mehta of Sugar Mediaz, set up a home studio and practised away with feedback from sound engineers.

I fed my passion for words with consistent study and practice. Over twenty years of anchoring industry conferences I learnt structuring and business phrases from the excellent presentations of the international experts. I interacted with international audiences who would come up to the stage and compliment my style. One senior speaker from Japan even gave me a gift!

Language teaching, training, coaching, examining

In 2008 I was selected as examiner on the Trinity College London GESE India panel. Other than examining I also trained teacher panels like the NBSE Nagaland, was part of the British team in India for a variety of projects like benchmarking for the CBSE Board, the Open University UK and a corpus research project.  Recruiting and training new examiners with Trinity was an enriching experience and gave me further insight into how language skills are assessed. I studied further to do a TESOL diploma where I also had to teach in Greenwich, London. More insight of how the language is perceived elsewhere in the world. It was during this time that my voice over background and overall proficiency with the language reached a new level.
